WHAT IS NEW AT TIKO?
Tiko received a remarkable $25,000 Donation
We’re thrilled to share the extraordinary news of a recent $25,000 donation that has left us in awe. This generous contribution began with a simple inquiry about sending £1500, which we directed towards Global Giving. To our astonishment, this modest beginning blossomed into a substantial sum in our account. If you’re eager to learn more about this incredible journey, we invite you to follow this on our social networks (links see below). Claudia, a dear friend who assisted Elke in crafting our project proposal, is available to help untangle the intricate details.
Empowering Youth and Fostering Education
We’re excited to engage the youth of Tiko in our mission. Thanks to Christoph in Germany and our connection with a German school, we’ve been able to cover the school fees for all 150 of our children. Rather than responding with videos to the 100 questions posed by the students, we provided comprehensive written answers. This exchange has been a beautiful demonstration of the rich tapestry of global cultures, and Jens, who has visited Tiko for 15 years, has been instrumental in fostering understanding.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANCEMENTS AT TIKO?
Empowering Youth and Fostering Education
Through a generous grant from OTTO PER MILLE, we are poised to receive tables, chairs, and ten desktop computers. These resources will support school children in their exams and provide IT training to our new youth groups, enabling them to track their tree planting activities, pending grant approval.
Heading for Harnessing Solar Energy and Sustainable Cooking
We stand on the threshold of embracing solar power to operate our hydroponic fodder system for chicken feed. We have two promising offers on the table, and we will keep you updated on the outcome. Additionally, we explored the possibility of acquiring movable firewood stoves for our villagers, which could serve as incentives for our most active farmers and encourage them to start woodlots.
How does Tiko face the water Challenges?
An inspiring group of engineers from Chicago has expressed a keen interest in addressing water-related challenges in regions like ours. Their boss plans to make a remarkable journey to Tiko in December, taking the scenic Tazara train route from Tanzania. Despite the long journey, their commitment to our cause remains steadfast.
DonorSee and Rey: Our Lifelines
We mustn’t forget to express our deep appreciation for our invaluable partnership with DonorSee and our dedicated manager, Rey. More and more of our colleagues are benefiting from land acquisitions, shop construction, sewing machines, and various forms of assistance. Witnessing the global community rally to our cause warms our hearts.
MEET LALIKO: OUR NEW VOLUNTEER
The Tiko crew has warmly embraced him, as is their custom with all visitors. Laliko’s presence serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring peace and contentment found amidst life’s simpler pleasures.
As we navigate the challenges of our world, let’s keep the indomitable spirit of the Tiko community close to heart. Your unwavering support continues to transform lives in remarkable ways. With profound gratitude and heartfelt thanks,
Elke and the Crew
P.S. Our heartfelt thanks extend to Dorothee and her family, the twins, Claudia, and, of course, Laliko, for being an integral part of our journey.
